Whenever some of my friends in India ask me for suggestions in taking up the offers, it leaves me puzzling. Most of the offers will come from big boys like $96.29 billion IBM Corp, $20.67 billion Electronic Data Systems Corp, and $13.67 billion Accenture Ltd, Vs Indian boys like $1+ billion+ Wipro, TCS or Infosys.
Mostly I advise them to take up the big boys offer as most of these companies offer very good salaries coupled with very good work culture and they get a chance to work with very good clients.
I may be wrong in some sectors, as more and more Indian companies jumping on to high end consulting now and bagging very big clienteles to their portfolios. So Which one will you suggest?
hi,
working 4 indian companies is best.
selling our brains to foreign clients by working in indian companies is best.
the sal may lure, but peace and rest as home will never come.
u know many nris prefer 2 settle in india..
If you are seeing from oneside to otherside, looks always greener.
But, Real color you can see when you are there..
Indian companies are Good but,
-If you are extra ordinary person, you wont be recognized.
-If you are not know POLITICS you wont be survive.
Welcome Anu…
If am getting your point right, you meant to say by working with Indian companies we get the profit to the Indian companies and this is Deshi Vs Videshi battle?
But we do had to agree that these Indian companies offer narrow range of services, and their clientele is primarily focussed on US,I bet these big boys have an global outlook on them and for an employee consider these,if you work in Indian companies your relationships goes only till your IT Managers but in MNC’s you get a chance to have CIO/CEO levels of relationships (which is really required for careergrowth in consulting) and you get a chance to work with diverse background people too from different countries.
What you say?
Ganapathy, nice to see you here.
mm..you sound experiencing, ya practically yes. Most of the Indian companies have Maintenance&support projects and even if you are extra-ordinarily skilled , you will do the repetitive work and lose your momentum day by day.Politics is there everywhere thgh.
we in our company work with different clients in different atmosphere. so our guys r too good in working with onsite clients.
see even many of my frds has resignes frm this big boys companies and joined ours. what they say is there is no self identification for them.many people working in verizon, virtusa in chennai has recently resigned due to insecure job.to serve our indian companies is a little bit service 2 nation.
I agree with Ganapathy and Jag’s comment on Ganapathy.
Here in my company, I have started loosing all my skills. Just because of restrictions and DONTs than Dos that we have.We had gone through a 10 days training to learn the Process and procedures of the company.
Second thing is that, I’m not getting any thing interesting to work with. All repetitive issues. And the jobs looks very easy and boring to me (as there is no challenging thing to work with). Occasionally I used to get some interesting things. But, due to the company policy, it will be esclated to my third level and I’m not supposed to do a Proactive check as again, I’m inireactive support and I’m not supposed to do other works (even no new Intiatives).
But still then, I’m working in one of the worlds largest Network it terms of Infrastructure thet have.
On the top of all these things, ther is a quite a lot of politics played over here. Very bad thing is that we are utlized very well and cerdit is going to different person and the importance is given to a person who is having just 20 to 25 % of the skill set that we people posses. We do have some companies were we don’t have much of politics. They do have politics, but very less. So, the conclusion is “If indian Company then Politics”.
Coming to Anu’s point, I strongly Disagree with you Anu.
Just think about the revenue that the company is getting because of you. Let me take an example of mine. We will be working Day & Night (24 X 7) and company is giving us some 100s per month as a shift allowence. Even to get that I have to stay in the company for 9.5 hours, but my work will get finished with in 8 hours (Client’s policy) and I have to sit idle in the office to get the shift allowence and to comply with my company policy. But the company is charging the client for my service in $ that too per hour basis (Man Hours). The same work if I directly to the client I will earn better.
For example, Microsoft India.
They have not compramised their salary just because they were in India. If I were working in microsoft now, I will get 125% more than what I’m getting now. This is the standards that the MNCs have that which is lacking from India companies.
In this point of view, it is better to work in a company which has a International presence or work abroad, probably as a direct employee in any of the International company for some time (3 to 5 years) and come back and start as a consultant or join in a Organization in Management posts.
Still, Remember that you are paying the TAX to the nation, which is a revenue for our country.
One more thing is the clientle. To satisfy the clients, We have been overloaded sometimes. These things are just to show the clients that we are hardworking bla…bla…bla…
Again, Not all Indian companies do this thing. But, most of the indian companies (especially in Infrastructure Services) were like this.
People from abroad come to India to conquer whether financially or culturally. Indians should stop simply looking for comfort by staying at home. Get ready to conquer the world, look forwrd to adventure and hardship. Yes, there is money joy and education outside and remember there are plenty more to take your place in India. We are an overcrowded country and the best thing we can do is work and live elsewhere and make a mark for ourselves and our culture. The British traveled when their country was poor and over populated and the govt and their fellow citizens encouraged them and appreciated them. Nobody said traitors! Philippines celebrates its non residents: the nannies, gardeners and maids who bring in money.
